7 Days Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the highest extinct volcanoes. It can be climbed at any time except in April and May during the long rains. January to March and August to October are the best climbing seasons. We use the Marunga route which is the easiest and the most accessible.

Day 1- Mombasa - Moshi

You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel. Arrive at Taveta border town at 9:00 am. Continue to Arusha for lunch, after immigration Formalities. Drive to Moshi where the afternoon will be spend organizing climbing gear. Dinner and overnight at Spring Land Hotel (Moshi).

Day 2- Moshi- Marangu

After breakfast, drive 45 kilometers to Marunga gate, an attitude of 1,860m walk 9 kilometer to Mandara hut, 2744m (900ft) through the dense semi-tropical rain forest, for your first overnight on Kilimanjaro. Meals and overnight at the hut.

Day 3 - Start early morning for a 10 hours walk towards Horombo. The landscape becomes more rugged and rocky, but super with both Mawezi and Kibo peaks in view. You spend your second night on mountain at Horombo hut an attitude of 3,771 m.(1,233 fts)

Day 4 - Take a tiring 13 kilometers walk which takes 6 hours to Chiba hut 4,723m (15,520 ft) above sea level. Spectacular Mountain like giant cactus, groundsel and lobelia appears. Meals and overnight at the hut.

Day 5 - The final attempt to the summit is made in the early hours of the morning at 2:00 am. It takes about five hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Grilman'sPoint, 5681m (19630fts). From Grilmans, it takes 2 hours to Uhuru peak 5,896m (19,344ft), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Horombo for dinner and overnight.

Day 6- Marangu - Moshi

Descend is paid. After breakfast, walk down to Marangu Gate for transfer to Moshi. Overnight at Spring Lands Hotel, Moshi.

Day 7- Moshi - Mombasa

After breakfast, drive to Taveta border town for your journey back to Mombasa. Arriving Mombasa in the afternoon.
